Week 2 in our series Peter an Apostle of Jesus Christ. This week we explore the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and Peter's explanation of how it was the fulfillment of Joel's prophesy. Peter relied on 2 things to see this parallel - he knew scripture and looked to the Holy Spirit for direction. We too need to look to & trust in God's Word and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us. *The sermon starts with a reading of 1 Peter 1:10-12*

On this earth we tend to put treasured things in lovely and beautiful containers but God doesn't do that, God puts His treasures in earthen vessels - us. It's a testimony to God's grace that He uses broken people to accomplish His will - not just lovely, perfect people - so that we can see His grace, glory, and power through our weakness and we can understand and know what He has done.
