The Special Friends ministry serves children and youth with special needs and their families. Our mission is twofold: 1) to allow parents and families to participate in corporate worship and teaching of the Word of God while 2) their children with special needs are welcomed into a nurturing environment where God’s love is demonstrated and the Bible is taught. The Special Friends Sunday School class averages a one-to-two student-to-teacher ratio and the lesson typically consists of music, a Bible lesson (using appropriately-adapted content and materials), an art activity, and either indoor or outdoor recreation.
In spite of the challenges that can face our bodies or minds, the Lord has “fearfully and wonderfully made” each of us (Psalm 139:14), and each of us is created to bring Him glory and experience His love. “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else...” (I Thessalonians 3:12)
The Special Friends Sunday School class meets every Sunday during the 11:00am Family Bible Hour. Accommodation can gladly be arranged in advance to provide care for families who want to participate in the Breaking of Bread at 9:15am.
